A very expensive place with average food. But the service is good and the people go out of their way to help the customers out.

They have a cool ambiance with a complete selection of drinks(though the prices are exorbitant).

Wanna fleece someone..... Take them to Umerkot.
“Great Lunch Menu”
Went with the team for lunch at Umerkot. They have a splendid menu for 299 per head. the menu gets you 20 odd dishes an also a glass of beer or soft drink. The setting is neat and the service is fast. The food is good...but of course their a la carte menu is uncomparable. The lunch set menu called Jasmine menu is great for groups, it is non fussy and easy.... worth the money.
“Great Lunch Menu”
My team and I went to Umerkot for lunch today. They have 2 interesting menus, Lotus and Jasmine. It is basically a set menu with around 20 dishes and is served at the table unlimited. It also comes with a glass of soft drink or beer. The food was very good and the service is very prompt.
Very good restaurant for team lunch.
I have to try their a la cart menu for dinner.
“Umerkot - Not so fine Dine-in Experience”
Pros:
Food, Murgh Ki Chaanp was awesome.
Cons:
Hygeine, Ambience, Food Presentation

Just back from Umerkot and thought of shooting a review. Well I was very excited as many a people had told me that it is too good but didn’t live upto my expectations. I am a regular foodie and love
to enjoy the Food with Wine.

Ok lets get down to business as usual.

The entrance itself was not very impressive and once we entered (I and my heart-throb), it felt like if someone has lent out his drawing room and dinning room with 14-15 plain tables with chairs to sit around. The ambience was not awesome or one of those types which you see and say, WoW!!!!!
Now if you have read that chefs were from one of the best five stars, you would atleast expect that the Kitchen Staff in their open kitchen wears gloves and a hat to cover their head. Now that was a yuck experience. No gloves while making chapatis/breads.

Ok!!!Anyhow we settled down just in front of the kitchen doors and to our side was the cellar. We ordered Budweiser and Fresh Lime Soda with Murg ki Chaanp. The dish was awesome. I will say the food was good but the presentation was not awesome. We ordered Murg E Rogan along with one Gilafi Kulcha and Lahsooni (Garlic) Naan in the main course. The food was good in taste. No doubts about that.

I will rate food 9 out of 10, but the presentation, ambience and other things scores 6 out of 10. But definetly I am not going to give marks in terms of Hygeine. It should score below 2. Also a fine dining restaurant is a place where you enjoy your food in great music not in the clatters of plates and spoons. Now don’t come up with the excuses that it was friday night and the place was overcrowded. I guess with around 30-40 people you don’t say the place is overcrowded. It is normal. A drink served with complementary snacks like warm peanuts or cashewnuts would have been rated as a good gesture.

A fine dining experience is not about good and tasty food. Other things also scores in getting back the patrons. And yes this time with all the ratings I have given I would definetly say that the cost was on the higher side. I got a bill of around 1K. Though I do spend at times around 2K or more than that for a dinner for two people but this was definetly on the higher side with all the strings attached. I hope Sanjay Tyagi is listening. Do read my other reviews as well.

“Umerkhot”
Umerkhot is located on 80 ft road on Koramangala. The stately interiors are a perfect match for the sumptuous food served here. Dal Makhani and Kadai vegetables are a must-try for the veggies and the chicken platter is absolutely not to be missed for the non-vegetarians! I went to Umerkhot after my friend gifted me a coupon he bought at Bangalore hungry zone for my birthday. It was a great experience and I have been using Bangalore hungry zone, ever since to order food or book tables at restaurants in Bangalore.
“Amazing dining experience”
I had the privilege of visiting Umerkot with my fiance. The decor was just perfect-nice n soothing. The waiters were very courteous and made it a pleasurable experience.
We ordered some heavenly kebabs, wheat rumali rotis(havent had the wheat rotis , but must admit they were really good n light),excellent panner dish and some exquisitely done chicken dish-cant for the world of me remember the name. All of it was very well done, and one could make out that this place is different.
The gajar halwa was just the perfect end to an out of this world meal.Would always come back here , and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants authentic north indian cuisine.
“Unbelievable lunch”
Me and my team went to lunch at Umerkot today. We ordered their Lotus and Jasmine set menu. At that price, I must admit we had a great time, with super food continously being served by very trained staff. We have visited Umerkot many times for dinner, but this offer for lunch is worth every money. The food is very good.

“Good experience”
My colleague is a big fan of Umerkot. He recommended that we celebrate our friends promotion bash at Umerkot. Our server was Ranjith. He ensured that we had a great time. The food is unique, different and worth the money. I was impressed with the quality of food and the service delivery. Overall I would rate this restaurant on lines with many of the top restaurants that I have been to. Now I understand why my friend adores this place. I am the latest fan.
Food - 4.5/5
Service- 5/5

“Great Food. Awesome Service”
We went to Umerkot last Tuesday from the office. We ordered for a few kebabs and then went on to order some curries and biryani. The food was amazing and not made too spicy. All of us had a great time. The service was very attentive and the waiter suggested items to our taste. Overall a very fine experience. many of my friends visit this restarant regularly and have good comments.
“Excellent experience”
We have been visiting Umerkot since the last 1 and a half years, many a times carrying takaways too. I have never got an impression that Umerkot served pathetic food-as the blogger Janardhan says. All of us love the kebabs at Umerkot and the Nalli has been our all-time favourite. I am yet to come across a friend who does not like the food at Umerkot.
“Pathetic”
Yesterday we went to Umerkot for dinner along with 4 more friends. Here goes my ratings
Ambience - 3
Food Taste - 1.5
Quality - 1.5
Value for money - 1
Overall rating: 1.5 out of 5.0
The starters are sucked and we ended up just having couple of beers and veg dinner.
“Fine dining experience”
Food at this place tastes really good. The veggies have a good choice too, try the Khasta roti, Dal makhni and the Bhuttey ke Kababs ... well done and tastes just yummy tht u wud want to go back to them soon. Being located in the cosmo Koramangala, parking may be slightly difficult on weekends
“Greaaaaat north indian food”
hi friends,
i visited this place on Fab 16, 2008 around 2 o'clock. This place is located in 4th block, koramangla. I went  with my husband and 2 yrs old baby. At the entrance there is small pond with few fishes and my daughter got excited from there only. i could get seats easily because it was 2 o'clock. I liked the embience, it was very homly kind, neat and claen.Chef's area is separted from dining area vwith transparent glass.  As i mentioned, i was with my daughter and for her wash rooms are must visit. Wash room at Umerkot was very very neat and clean.
Now coming to food.
As a complementry food we were offered some papri with mustard dip. dip itself was awesome. waiting for food wasn't boring at all because we were busy in eating papri and chatting.
we orderd complete veg food. one was "Mirch ka khattu" and one was "khadey masale ka paneer". Both the dishes were very well made and really had authentic taste. one more special thing-- rotis were made of wheat flour but not with maida. Liquors are also sreved.
I found staff very well trained and well mannered. they took care of my baby as well.
A meal for 2 wil cost you Rs. 600 on avg.

It is quite difficult to get good north indian food in Bangalore, but good news for north indian food lovers. i will recommend u all to visit this place.
“A superb discovery”
I recently visited this restaurant, cos I was recommended this place by a few collegues. They said its the absolute best I can get of Muslim food. Its a quaint place located in the 4th Block, Koramangala. The restaurant looks like a refurbished house. The staff seemed well trained and pleasant ( very different from the many restaurant I have visited).
I was very happy to see Nihari on the menu. I requested for  Khamiri and was told that Khamiri is known a Gilafi Kulcha, in the restaurant(Fair enough).
I had Sheek Kebab, Nihari and Gilafi Kulcha- thats as Muslim as I can get!!
I think, the food is excellent, service is pleasant and the interiors is unsophesticated but elegant.
Highly recommended.
“High quality all along”
Yesterday we went to this superb restaurant - Umerkot. I like to give it full marks for its ambience, service andamp; food. I have been to lots of good places to eat but this one scores above them all. The place has a nice andamp; open decor with separate sittings for smokers andamp; non-smokers folks. Apart from food for people who like wines this place is a nice place to look forward to. They say this place servers Mughlai food. Frankly I came to know the meaning of word Mughlai in context of food after being here.
We started of with nariyal panni andamp; himachali khumb - yummy man I have to tell you u got to try this. For the main course we ordered Paneer (forgot the later part of the name, was too classy for me) andamp; daal makhani.. More than these dishes it was the bread that we ordered that we loved. This place serves some of the softest andamp; unique naans - you got to try it as well...
By the time we had our main course done, because of the quality of things we ate we could not stop ourselves from trying the sweet dishes on offer. We went for home made kulfi andamp; anngoori rabri andamp; ate the last bit of it even though our tummies were full before we started..
Beware, this place could be having habitual effects on you as you would be forced to return again to try the things you haven’t eaten...
“Good Food”
We were at this place over the weekend. I had booked a table at this place through HB.
Pros: The food was really good; they seem to have an array of dishes. The Biryani's were good andamp; very good quantity. A good lunch for a couple would be about 800Rs.The service is very well co-ordinated.This is a good place to dine for a special occasion.
Cons: car park seemed to be a problem andamp; also locating this place was an issue too.
“wine selection”
This restaurant has a cellar that offers a fine collection of wines that is usually found in 5 star hotels. The best part is that one can buy them to take home at retail prices. The food is very good and the staff is very courteous. I think the food is much better than many Indian restaurants have visited till now in Bangalore.
“Simply superb”
Nalli Gosht and Gilafi Kulcha will blow your mind off. The place has got very friendly and efficient service. I believe the owner is a chef. He was with The Hyatt and The Leela Palace as the main Indian Chef. The food shows. I make it a point to get my foreign clients here, to showcase our wonderful food.
“Wonderful experience”
The kebabs are out of the world. The place is just superb. We did not reserve the table and had to wait for half an hour. But it was worth the wait. The lamb afghani is a must try. The taste reminds me of the mutton curry they used to serve at muslim weddings in Lukhnow.
“I agree”
I too had a wonderful experience at Umerkot. The food is great. The service is well trained and pleasant.
The Mutton Biryani is too good. The have a wonderful collection of wines that you can buy at MRP from their shop.
Great choice.
“An absolute treat”
We were at Umerkot last week. Went there, as the place was highly recommended by our friends. The ambience is simple and elegant, the crowd is a mix of family and corporates. The neat show kitchen reflects the hygiene.
The food.......... The place is a must visit for anybody who understands different flavours of Indian food; for all those who believe that all kebabs are not bright red in colour; for all those who are fed up of the butter chicken's that paint the hand crimson; for all those who believe that the high quantity of chily reflects the quality of Indian food and for all those who are fed up of the run-of-the-mill - panner butter masala, chole masala, chicken masala and all the other masalas.
Check it out....... you might thank me for the advice.
PS: Do not miss the Murgh Ki Chaamp, Lamb Sheekh Gilafi and the Gilafi Kulcha................ I  just cannot go wrong with these names.
“Exotic akbari food.. one of kind restaurant in bangalore”
In a city flooded by North Indian hotels most of which fail to think past the mundane butter chicken, paneer tikka masala and palak paneer it is always refreshing to find a restaurant that truely understands Indian food. An excellant indicator of what North Indian food is truely about.Umerkot, located on the Koramangala 80 Foot Road, specialises in cuisine from the musafirkhanas patronised by Emperor Akbar. Recipes brought here by the Mughal rulers, and imbibed and customised by the local population of the Delhi, Avadh, Lucknow and Hyderabadi gharanas. Thus, the same aloo, paneer, chicken and mutton are given an infusion of the exotic that places Umerkot in a different league. The ambience is cool and refreshing and the food "different" from what one usually finds and is accustomed to. The restaurants claims of using special spices and herbs which gives it a true flavor of the food of yester years. The service is decent and the tables are neatly spaced, ideal for a cosy dinner.
