sivaji wrote “ I am surprised to see the above reviews. I have been there(marathally) last week and the food was horrible. Also, it is very expensive compared to other hyderabadi restaurants. We ordered hyderabadi biryani family pack and that turned out to be the biryani with no masala. Not at all spicy and no taste at all. Not worth. But, some body wants to try biryani without spices, can go ahead. ”

Considering that i have now visited this place many a times I can vouch for it authenticity and I find so many point of views wrong, some prejudiced and some hateful reviews on this place in vain! the best Quality biryaani, the right quantity and bestest presentation can be found here Its inde4ed a good place to be And eat the most authentic biryanis  ”

So far, I've frequented this place on many a dinner times and have even entertained friends here and by far all the experiences have been superb. The restaurant is about convenience and comfort ..the non-veg platter is a must try .Along with the biryaani combinations ”

rahul wrote “ I ordered food once from this place. Packing looked appealing but I didnt find the food that great.

It was very oily. I know Biryani preparation include little more oil than any other dish but I have tasted food in other places like Bombay Post, Sikander.

after eating the food in Ammis Biryani, I didnt have a good opinion abt them ”
ak wrote “ Loved the packaging of the food more than anything else; the biryani came in a pizza-like box with little compartments for everything, including a "bone tray"! Great for meals on the go. The biryani itself was decent, made better with the little cans of salan n raita. The included meetha was nothing special but not bad either. I'd also called fr kababs--very peppery, but great taste.
Definitely worth ordering again...and the prompt delivery makes it even better! ”

I normally don`t rely on restaurant reviews. However, I couldn`t help but read the positive reviews of this place. I go there almost every fortnight and now I even know Mr. Shariff who runs this place!  ”
ajay jain wrote “ i am pure vegetarian one of my friend recommed ammis biryani. i went there the only item availabel for vegetarians is subzi biryani. i was in 2 minds since it was run by muslim. i met mr,shariff and was convenced the guy was very professional. i had subzi biryani and this was the first time i had biryani which had 3 layers. amazing experiance. till then i had presumed pulao as biryani. but after trying ammis birayni my opinion changed. good i recommend the true foodies to try this place. ”
amit wrote “ i ordered biryani and felt my search for authentic muslim biryani has ended. the biryani at ammis waas too good. they use zeera rice which is the right rice for a muslim biryani. totally satisfied ”
ramesh wrote “ i had visited ammis at koramangala there biryani was amazing rather i would say the guilt of eating biryani was never there because of light and healthy feel. keep the gud work ”
anoop wrote “ Although this place is quite tiny and more like a fast food joint rather than a place you would want to go to dine in the food is worth it.

A completely different style of biryani than anything I\'d ever expected. I would suggest you do not go expecting the rich masala filled rice that most people have, and although they do not use basmati rice either, the overall taste is light, fresh, and a nice change.

Definitely a little heavy on the wallet as the quantity is not so much that you feel totally satisfied, but alright for once in a while. I will definitely try this again , but for home delivery or takeaway as anyway its served in the same box, and will hope that its as good the next time around!

Looking forward to them adding some Vegetarian kebabs to the menu also please!

riyaz hyder wrote “ Before getting into the restaurant review I guess there are some clarification on the concept of Biriyani raised by couple of reviewers above. It's a common belief that Biriyani's would be the best if the longest Basmati rice is used!! I guess a Pakistani would die fighting for this belief.

But Pls note that the variations in biriyani's are enormous My Mom cooks 5 kinds of Biriyani's (I am not talking about the modern versions or the difference of meat that's used) and she uses Basmati in only two of them!! Taking abt varieties, Bangalore had a good biriyani place called "Biriyani Merchant" in castle street.. I guess their only failing was the non availability of 200 odd biriyani's they had on a given day. Just to add, the best biriyani version from south india, in my opinion - "Thalassery Biriyani" uses small rice and so do "Kabsa" (A Saudi Arabian version of Biriyani).

As for rating Ammi's Biriyani, I'd say I am not impressed by the presentation of food if you are dining in, same with the quantity of chicken kabab, (pls note all the kababs, especially the home made varieties are not cooked in tandoor or deep fired). I guess the packaging is primarily meant for dine out customers and the dine in customers are just being accommodated.

But for the taste this reminds me of my friends in Mysore and the Eid's we've celebrated together.. Sadly Mysore still doesn't have a proper restaurant that serves those kinda food. The biriyani you get there are less spicy but laced with unmistakable flavour of green chillies. the most interesting part is that they are very light, you could almost have them everyday. I love them so much and Ammi's Biriyani taste wise has won me over. I'd love to see they stating to serve the chatpapta kababs as well (if you wanna know what it is, search for these near St. Philomina's church next time you are in Mysore!) ”
sunu wrote “ Have you ever seen a large billboard of an eatery and then went ahead and tried it out? Well, I did it last Sunday. The story goes something like this. Saturday morning I was returning from work in the company cab, when suddenly, I saw this large billboard in Brigade Road with Ammi's Biryani's ad. Now I have come across ads of Ammi's Biryani before, but when they seemed like screaming out so loud I thought of giving them a try. Well, it didn't happen on Saturday (it's veg day) but it sure happened on Sunday. So we duly dressed up and went to Koramangala where it is located. We didn't have any trouble finding the place. We went inside. The first floor setup has 8 tables with 4 to 5 seats each. Well, we settled down. The first interesting point was that there were very limited number of items in the menu, Chicken/ Mutton/ Egg Biryani, and 2 chicken preparations. We took one chicken and one mutton biryani and 1 chicken kabab. The person taking the order duly informed that the kabab is more like pepper chicken with pepper in it. I said, no problem there, and asked them to go ahead. Well, in 5 minutes flat we had our Biryanis and kabab ready. Have you seen the silvery contraption in which they serve food in 2nd Class Sleeper coach in Indian Railways. The silvery bowl, if you can call it so, covered with a thin cardboard? All the preparations were served in that. The waiter, and there were too many of them, as an example of exemplary hospitality, neatly removed the cardboard layer from each unit and placed it infront of us.
I took a spoon from my mutton biryani and almost immediately regretted coming to this place. The rice was normal arwa (small) rice. It was a very bad version of ghee rice. There was nothing biryani about that preparation. The chicken kabab, waiter's confession notwithstanding, was very very un-kabab. Infact it was not even pepper chicken. What it was, is only 3 people knows, the person who cooked it, the person who confessed about it, and God. In short, that too was not good. I tried my best but couldn't finish the complete thing.
For a place which boasts of specialising in Biryanis and doesn't serve a varied menu, should have a minimum standard. Their audacious attitude towards Biryani and Bangalore's food lovers is almost criminal.  ”
dileep wrote “ Good ads, hoardings, websites, delivery, packing...but the food sucks...just lots of plain rice with small pieces when we ordered at 9.30. Not at all worth it. Pls dont advertise this as Muslim biryani. Muslim biryanis are the best and iam sure these guys have never tasted the real Muslim style be it north or south indian.. i think they should cut down on their ads and spend on a real good cook...but in bangalore, business will go on , but they wont have regulars for sure... ”
sandhya divakar wrote “ The delay in delivery was a very negative pointer to start with, though the biriyani itself was good. Now , two of us in my family ended up with a stomach upset-case of the Ammi's Bug or what? ”
sisir wrote “ It is the worst place to have biryani. . . just think a 95bugs biryani and it doesn't even fill your stomach. They do not have large variety to choose. Above all the biryani is a waste to eat no taste, no quality andamp; no quantity. Don't waste your time and money going there plz!!

 ”
sajan wrote “ They took 1 hour 50 minutes to deliver, although they promised in 40 minutes, and I had to call them up three times during the waiting time.Â
The quality is good though. ”
sagar wrote “ I'm a huge fan of biryani and always looking to try any new joint.  When i found Ammi's biryani on hungry bangalore I was quite excited.  I ordered for takeaway and when i went to get my order was pleasantly surprised to find each biryani in its seperate highly organized carton.  Raitha and curry were in their own seperate little boxes and there was even a 'bone tray' - which I didn't use, being a vegetarian, and therefore was actually a waste of plastic.  So basically it was an extremely neat affair.
Now more importantly - the food! Well it wasn't the spicy biryani that i do crave generally thats for sure.  However, thanks to it being on the lighter side its probably possible to eat it on a more regular basis.  Not reasonably priced enough to have it too regularly however!
My verdict- definitely worth a try and if you're someone who can let go of spiciness for one night, you'll be deliciously pleased! ”
jishnu viswanath wrote “ Well, I have been in Kormanagala 5th block for last 2 years or so, did try almost all restaurants out. Last week we went to Ammi's biriyani, Its next to the Jukebox restaurant. As the name suggest as main course they have only biriyani, but Good Biriyani.

I am basically from Malabar Region of Kerala, so there was no shortage of Good Biriyani place, but after coming to blore, did not find much good biriyani place. This was a welcome change.

The ambiance was nice, for lunch. I have been never there for dinner, but the bright yellow wall, and yellow chairs looks really good. Its not couple place, as I feel, but with friends to hangout, its nice place.

Ok here is my rating
Food 5/5
Ambinace 5/5
Price 4/5
Service 5/5

PS: When we went second time(that was a big group) we got a free Pepsi :D. Well inaugral thing may be, after that we did not get.
